Christmas time is finally here and BroadwayWorld continues our favorite annual tradition of celebrating the holiday season with a 12 day countdown to Christmas. This year we have invited two stars from the stage and cinema, Michael uriah and Philemon Chambers, to share some of their most cherished holiday songs and performances.

A lot of straight men in my life with a wife and kids watched the movie and got something out of it, âChambers explained. The film is about love and acceptance and that is why our film touches so many people, regardless of orientation. Films like ours need to continue to have a strong presence so that we can continue to be seen, break down stereotypes and make it a more inclusive world. “
Michael and Philemon play in Single until the end– now available to stream on Netflix. Desperate to avoid his family’s judgment on his perpetual single status, Peter (Uriah) convinces his best friend Nick (Chambers) to join him for the holidays and pretend they are now a couple. But when Peter’s mother (Kathy najimy) arranges for him a blind date with his handsome trainer James (Luke Mac Farlane) – the plan goes wrong.
Michael uriah is an actor, presenter, director and producer best known for his starring role in the ABC television series Ugly Betty. He currently has recurring roles in the Paramount + series The Good Fight and Younger, and also recently starred in the Warner Bros / CBS pilot Fun with Becki newton, which he produced with Michel patrick King. Uriah appeared on Modern Family on ABC, in a recurring role on the CBS drama series The Good Wife, TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland, Central comedyCBC’s sitcom partners Workaholics, in addition to hosting four seasons of Logo TV’s Cocktails and Classics.
As active in theater as in television, Uriah made his Great White Way debut in 2012 when he joined the cast of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying for his second cover. In 2018, Uriah performed on stage in the lead role of Arnold Beckoff in the Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein‘s Torch Song, who won two Tony AwardsÂ® nominations. In 2019 he starred in Bess wohlBroadway debut, Grand Horizons.
Off-Broadway, in 2013, Uriah premiered the role of Alex More in Jonathan tolins‘Buyer & Cellar, later taking the show on tour and in London in 2015. For his acclaimed performance, he received the Drama Desk Award, Clarence derwent Price, the Lucille Lortel Award, LA Drama Critics Award and nominations for the Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Awards. In 2009 he was awarded the Lucille Lortel, Drama Desk and Theater World Awards for his role in the off-Broadway play The Temperamentals, which deals with the founding of the first LGBT rights organization, the Mattachine Society. His other off-Broadway credits include an Obie Award-winning performance in Homos, or Everyone in America; The Government Inspector; Angels in America; and A Bright Room Called Day.
Uriah also combines art and activism to raise funds and raise awareness through theater. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in 2019, Uriah co-produced Pride Plays with Doug Nevin, with Nick mayo as director of the festival. Produced in partnership with Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, the 5-day festival featured a celebration of queer-themed works by renowned and emerging voices. Due to popular demand and in support of Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, Playbill partnered with Pride Plays in 2020 to feature live broadcasts throughout the month of June of new and old work by LGBTQ + writers. At the start of the pandemic, Urie also returned to Buyer & Cellar for the Living Room Livestream Benefit. Free Live Benefit Show, produced by Broadway.com and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater in partnership with Pride Plays, raised over $ 200,000 for Broadway Cares / Equity Fights COVID-19 Emergency Aid Fund AIDS. Michael was educated at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York.
Philemon rooms is an American actor in the making. He was born and raised in Southern California, where he currently lives. At the age of 13, he started studying acting and landed a few roles in popular TV shows. Prior to playing his first major lead role as Nick in Single All the Way, Chambers starred in the award-winning short Of Hearts and Castles (2020), which received three nominations and won the best short film in Seville European film.
