A large amphitheater will open in Danville in August

DANVILLE. Virginia. – Residents of Danville will have a new place this summer to relax and see their favorite artists in concert.

Purpose Driven Events has announced plans to open Blue Ridge Amphitheatre, a 30,000 capacity amphitheater, in August with five music festivals already scheduled for this year.

The announcement comes shortly after Purpose Driven Events purchased The Ridge, formerly known as Phase 2 and Cattle Annies, in February for $3.5 million.

“The Blue Ridge Amphitheater is a game-changer for this market,” said General Manager Jonathan Slye. “While we have been able to bring many notable acts to this region over the past few years, launching this venue will allow us to offer a level of talent that many did not think could come on a regular basis. It also gives us the ability to unlock a higher level of event features and experiences, beyond just music, due to the sheer volume of land we now have to work with year-round. This is another exciting and massive step in delivering the highest quality of entertainment to a community that I love so much.

The company said it purchased 300 acres of land off Route 29 on the Chatham-Danville line and said the location for the amphitheater was chosen because it is between Lynchburg, Roanoke, Danville and Greensboro.

Concert and festival lineups have not been announced, but fans can subscribe to venue updates and show announcements here or follow the new venue on Facebook or Instagram.
