Alaska Junior Theater Announces LET’S DO IT LIVE Season Starting Next Week

Alaska Junior Theater will kick off its 2022/2023 Let’s Do It Live season by bringing the magic of bucket filling to young people in Anchorage this November with Have You Filled A Bucket Today – The Musical (K – 5).

This fun, all-new musical from Virginia Repertory Theater is based on concepts from Carol McCloud’s award-winning children’s books, Have You Filled a Bucket Today?, Growing Up with a Bucket Full of Happiness and Ann Marie Gardinier’s book Halstead, The Bucket Filler Fairy.

The books and the play use the concept of a “bucket” to show students how to express kindness, appreciation, and love to be “bucket fillers.” The play emphasizes the benefits of positive, thoughtful behavior. Have you filled a bucket today: the musical! relays the joys of friendship and compassion both for those who receive and for those who give.

The purpose of the piece is to help teach students to be bucket fillers rather than plungers with this musical performance designed to promote healthy relationships, self-esteem and bring character education to the fore in your school.

The show’s themes include family bonds, language arts, music, prevention, self-esteem and character development.

School performances of Have You Filled A Bucket Today – The Musical will take place November 3 and 4 at 10:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. in the Atwood Concert Hall at the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts. No public performance will take place for this event.

Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. The community may meet the performers of Have You Filled A Bucket Today? La Comédie Musicale at the Loussac Public Library to read the popular children’s book and make a DIY bucket! It’s a great way for kids to learn and reflect on emotions, interactions, and friendships.
