After a two-year hiatus, adult theater will return to the Broadway Theater in Mt. Pleasant with the play “God of Carnage.”
‘God of Carnage’ is a comedy film written by Yasmina Reza. The play follows two couples as they meet to discuss a fight between their children after a childish disagreement, which quickly escalates into adult conflict.
“‘God of Carnage’ won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play and the Tony-winning cast boasted some well-known names including Jeff Daniels who grew up in Michigan and briefly attended Central Michigan University,” a press release from the theater mentioned.
It is the first play to be performed with an adult cast since 2019, although the Broadway theater has hosted children’s plays in the years since.
The show is directed by Philip Mikus and features Tyler Sonnichsen, Rebecca Kenny, Karl Hauser and Laird Peace in the cast.
Opening night for ‘God of Carnage’ is Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m., with additional screenings on Saturday, April 30, Friday, May 6, and Saturday, May 7, also at 7 p.m. The matinee shows will take place on Sunday, May 1 and Sunday, May 8 at 2 p.m.
Adults are encouraged to leave children at home due to the room’s mature content.
The ticket price is $10 and is available at www.friendsofthebroadway.org.
