The Chicago Latino Theater Alliance is hoping to give Chicago’s holiday season a Latin twist with the free outdoor entertainment series “Destinos al Aire, a Holiday Extravaganza!” “

The celebration spans three consecutive Fridays, starting November 26 at Millennium Park with a holiday chant, continuing the following Friday at the Humboldt Park Boathouse and ending in Harrison Park.

The events will feature food and market vendors as well as performances by: Cuerdas Clásicas, The Frankie Diaz Trio, Gwen La Roka, Cepillao, Las BomPleneras, La Vuelta, Mariachi Sirenas, Teatro Vista and Teatro Tariakuri.

CLATA organized a ‘Destinos al Aire’ in 2020 to offer paid work to local artists and artists struggling due to pandemic closures.

“This year is the first year we are doing a vacation version and partnering with the Chicago Park District, so this is part of Nights Out in the Park,” said Christine Perez, Artist and Community Partnerships Manager. for CLATA.

Perez says the events are a way to bring the holiday spirit to Chicago while celebrating the diversity of our Latin American cultures.

“It’s not just Mexicans and Puerto Ricans in Chicago. We have Colombian, Venezuelan culture, many other cultures from Central America, South America and the Caribbean. So it’s a great place to go out and see the diversity and the beautiful community that we have.
