The City of Mount Gambier has approved four projects including visual arts, film, live interactive art and animated augmented reality works to be shared in the $ 50,000 2021/2022 Creative Arts Fund.

The Council is committed to “bringing a city to life through public art” through the annual Creative Arts Fund, which is offered, once the application is accepted, to local artists, organizations with a goal. non-profit and community groups to support the delivery of dynamic, creative and contemporary works.

“The board received 12 nominations this year and it was difficult for the selection panel to choose the last four,” said Serena Wong, Riddoch’s arts and culture development manager.

“In the end, the panel chose very different creative projects and will make a positive contribution to Mount Gambier, in line with the Mount Gambier City Strategic Plan 2020-2024, Culture and Heritage Plan and Strategy of public art. “

The Portrait Project – April Hague

Ten emerging and established artists based in Mount Gambier including April Hague, Jane Van Eeten, Jennie Mathews, Bianca Richardson, Sally O’Connor, Angela Hann, Stephanie Yoannidis, Anne Miles, Julia Reader and Christy Wallace will come together to paint portraits for a public exhibition.

“Over a period of six months, artists will share their ideas, skills and knowledge through structured workshops, resulting in the creation of a multimodal public work of art. Mount Gambier Theater Group – Alice in Wonderland

Mount Gambier Theater Group will produce a live work of art that depicts scenes from Alice in Wonderland.

“The actors will dress as characters and sit among the different sets. The general public will have the opportunity to meet the beloved characters and take the stage themselves.

Railway Lands Interactive – Yunita Manfrin

The Railway Lands Interactive will offer mobile phone users the possibility of discovering virtual animations displayed in augmented reality in public spaces via the EyeJack application.

“The animations on offer include a moving train, a piece of art that blends into a series of works of art including sound effects and animation on the sculpture of the existing railway track, the level crossing and the auditorium.
