WARREN – Olga B. Hoffman, 94, died Monday, October 10, 2022, while in hospice care at Shepherd of the Valley.

She was born in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Ernest and Maria Battistoli.

After graduating from East Bethlehem High School, she attended the University of Pittsburgh, after which she began a 10-year career with Capitol (later United) Airlines in the Pittsburgh reservations office.

Along with numerous corporate business trips to explore the locations of Capitol’s package vacations, she never failed to use her seven annual passes. She described those years of free flights, hotels and car rentals as a lifetime “champagne life on a beer budget.”

On September 11, 1948, Olga married Dr. Leroy “Lee” Hoffman. The couple moved to Warren in 1957 and resided on Perkins Drive, Dodge Drive and eventually moved to Millikin Place for 42 years.

Olga enjoyed the transition to full-time housewife, becoming active in social and civic groups. Over the years she has served as president of the Auxiliary to Corydon Palmer Dental Society, the Service League and Auxiliary of St Joseph Hospital, the Book Club of Warren, the Newcomers Club and the Trumbull Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

The couple were active parishioners of St. Mary’s, St. Pius and St. Sacrament churches. She was president of transportation and “St. Joe Prayer Chain” at the Blessed Sacrament, where she was also a volunteer tutor at the school.

Lee and Olga were avid football fans, attending many JFK, Harding, Pitt, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Browns and Steelers games. When she was younger, she enjoyed playing tennis, bowling and volleyball. She particularly enjoyed golf and was a member of the Warren Church League, TCC Ladies Gold League, Chip n’ Putt, Golden Girls of Avalon and Pro Dobbers.

Her favorite hobbies were her three children, reading, travelling, theater and bridge.

She is survived by her beloved son, William Hoffman of Mount Pleasant, SC and her children, Justin and Nicole Hoffman; daughter, Christie Talbert of Emeryville, California and her children, Davis and Hayden Talbert; and daughter-in-law, Lorraine Preston Hoffman of San Diego, California. In addition, several nieces and nephews and more particularly, the nephew, Dr. Bruno Battistoli, whose kindness she greatly appreciated.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Warren’s Blessed Sacrament Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made, in Olga’s name, to Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.
