Rockport Little Theater welcomes guests with comedy ‘M * A * S * H’

ROCKPORT, Texas – The Rockport Little Theater is delighted to welcome guests for its first production in its own building at 99 N. Austin St.

‘M * A * S * H’ stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. The play, adapted by Tim Kelly, is based on Richard Hooker’s book that spawned the iconic TV show and film of the same name.

Rockport Little Theater performed at the Historic Rockport School from 2003 to March 2017. Hurricane Harvey caused massive damage to the Aransas County Independent School District and the administration building was demolished. Over the next two and a half years, performances were held at the Rialto Theater at Aransas Pass and the La Palma Event Center. Rockport Little Theater started a building fund in 2014.

“In August 2020, the Rockport Little Theater board of directors voted to purchase the property,” said Monica Clark, president of Rockport Little Theater. “The construction fund is continuing because one day we will build a real theater with an orchestra pit and a suitable box.”

The play will run until September 26. The performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets cost $ 20 for ages 13 and over, $ 10 for ages 6 to 12, and free for ages 5 and under. You can buy tickets here.
