7:15 a.m. PT — A rep from Gorilla Glue told us, “We’re glad Miss Brown was able to be treated and hope she’s doing well.”
Tessica BrownThe woman whose hair has been Gorilla Glued for over a month finally has relief – and we have video of the surgery that saved the day.
As we first reported, Tessica has hired Bev Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Obeng on his offer to perform the $12,500 procedure for free, and it was quite an exhausting process. … about 4 hours!
We shot it all, start to finish, and it’s crazy to watch it unfold – and to see the relief on Tessica’s face when it’s all been said and done.
Tessica was under a light anesthetic during the procedure, you have to see her reaction when she came out and immediately grabbed her hair. She choked once she realized she could run her fingers through it again.
We asked her if she’s done with home styling after the Gorilla Glue nightmare, and let’s just say she has big plans for this weekend.
As we reported… Tessica had stolen from Los Angeles from Louisiana on Wednesday morning hoping that Dr. Obeng could do what she had been trying, unsuccessfully, to do for over a month now.
Remember… in a pinch, she’d swapped out her normal hairspray for Gorilla Glue Spray Adhesive, thinking she’d be able to wash it off a few hours later. Since then, she’s been through the wringer…suffering from severe headaches, trying home remedies and even went to the emergency roombut everything just caused his scalp to burn intensely.
Dr. Obeng shared his secret recipe with us, explaining that it was just basic chemistry. We’re no scientists, so watch the video for his explanation – but in a nutshell, he combined medical-grade adhesive remover, aloe vera, olive oil and a pinch of acetone.
He said that was all it took to break down the polyurethane – the main ingredient in Gorilla Glue. BTW, it didn’t come in the cold. You must see the fake scalp that Dr. Obeng used to test his solvent.
The only small relief Tessica got before her visit to Bev Hills came last weekend when she and her sister used superglue remover to cut your ponytail.
Speaking of that ponytail…she says she can’t wait to get her hair back to that length, and it’s pretty amazing how much hair Dr. Obeng was able to save.
Tessica told us she was ready to wear wigs for the rest of her life – but after this procedure, she won’t be needing them for very long.
