The government of Canada supports the renovation project of the Old Theater of Saint-Fabien
SAINT-FABIEN, QC, August 11, 2021 / CNW / – We know that investing in cultural infrastructure helps build strong communities. The government of Canada is happy to help municipalities like Saint-Fabien develop their cultural offer and provide creative, inspiring and safe meeting places for citizens.
It is in this spirit that the Honorable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage, announced funding for $ 1,900,140 today to help the Old Theater of Saint-Fabien renovate its theater.
This investment through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund will allow the organization to bring its facilities up to standard in order to ensure safe access to artists. It will also allow the presenter to diversify its service offering in order to ensure accessibility to the performing arts for citizens of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
The project consists of renovating and restoring public reception, artists’ spaces, the stage and service spaces such as toilets and dressing rooms, as well as the purchase and installation of stage equipment, fire and ventilation safety.

The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports improving physical conditions for the arts, heritage, culture and creative innovation. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces.
The Old Theater of Saint-Fabien is a performing arts hall located at Saint-Fabien, in the administrative region of Bas-Saint-Laurent. The organization, founded in 1995, has for mission to offer a range of high caliber creative shows in the region.
The Old Theater of Saint-Fabien is the only professional rural cultural organization outside of Rimouski in the regional county municipality of Rimouski-Neigette. Each year, the organization presents 37 professional cultural activities, mainly in summer, to an average of 6,200 people.
